PROFINET is the Industrial Ethernet standard that is the Ethernet compliment to PROFIBUS. PROFINET and PROFIBUS are the technologies of choice for a number of European industrial automation manufactures including Siemens. Both technologies are growing rapidly around the world, including in North America.
